For this post, I wanted to talk a little bit about data trails and my personal feelings towards them. They are the digital breadcrumbs we leave behind in the vast wilderness that is the Internet. For one aspect, it can be convenient to look back at your online presence and everything you have done online, but, it can also be unwavering to think about our privacy and constantly being watched by powerful algorithms. With these concerns, I have been cautious about my digital footprint and everything that I interact with and post online. I don’t try to minimize my digital footprint because, at this point in my life, there is no point. I’ve been using social media for well over a decade and am constantly interacting online. It would be merely impossible to try and minimize those interactions because that’s everything I’ve ever known for almost half of my life. The seamless integration of technology into our everyday lives is far too convenient to ever try and minimize it.
